Costello Manufacturing Buys Rolling Stock, Structure Kit Companies

A model train manufacturer in western New York State is expanding with the acquisition of three different companies offering everything from wood craftsman kits to rolling stock. Earlier this week, Costello Manufacturing announced that it had purchased JL Innovative Design, Durango Press, and Railway Express Miniatures. The three companies had been operating under the same ownership for a number of years but still producing products under their individual brands. Costello Manufacturing is owned by two brothers, Christopher and Michael Costello, and has produced cabooses for Erie and Delaware Lackawanna & Western modelers over the years under the name JJL Models

All existing inventory for the three companies has been transferred to Costello Manufacturing’s home in New York and each line will continue to be produced under their original names. JL Innovative Design specializes in wood craftsman kits, unpainted and decorated detail parts, and one of the largest selections of period billboard signs and posters available. Durango Press offers a variety of HO and HOn3 rolling stock and structures, as well as detail accessories and parts. Railway Express Miniatures focuses on N-Scale vehicles and details.

“Costello Manufacturing looks forward to continuing to offer the same level of quality and detail that customers have come to expect from each line, as well as to bringing exciting new kits, details, and vehicles to each respective product line in the years to come,” the owners said in a press release.
