The winners of the second annual Walthers National Model Railroad Build-off have been announced.
Earlier this year, the model railroad manufacturer kicked off its second-even module building contest in an effort to test the skills of beginners and experts alike. There were multiple categories, including adult individual, adult team, youth and an open category where builders could use whatever material they wanted.

Those who participated in the non-open categories purchased themed bundles from Walthers that included either a depot, a grain elevator or a coal mine. There was also a people’s choice award that was picked by Facebook users.
“We wanted to do something that would promote the hobby, not just a specific product,” said Zach Thompson, director of product marketing, of why the company started the build-off.
This year’s winners were:
Youth Winner: Josiah Jamieson
Open Category Winner: Matthew Richards
HO Adult Individual Entry: Chris DeAngelis
HO Adult Team Entry: Patrick Iwanski & Team
People’s Choice: Brandon Lepley
The winners were selected by a panel of modeling experts.
