HO Scale (1:87)In May 1975, the Canadian National Railway took delivery of its first SD40-2Ws – the first six-axle Comfort Cab locomotives.  Eventually numbering 123 units in all, 81 of these locomotives came equipped from GMD with dynamic brakes.  While most of these units served Western Canada initially on coal and low-value commodity unit trains, they eventually wandered far and wide throughout Canada and beyond in later years.  Additional units from the fleet also received dynamic brakes over time.

Now available from Bowser as part of its premium “Executive Line” are highly detailed replicas of CN SD40-2Ws in eight distinct variations covering multiple eras and detail configurations including snow shields, different exhaust stacks, brake configurations, different horn placement, chicken-wire or corrugated radiator grilles, open pan-top or Q-style radiator fans and more.

Liveries for this inaugural production include CN “Sargeant Stripes”, CN North America, and the CN URL scheme.  LED lighting includes step well lighting, ground lights, ditch lights, headlights, class lights and more. DC/DCC-ready Bowser SD40-2Ws retail for $239.95 while DCC+Sound equipped SD40-2Ws with ESU Loksound 5 decoders are $339.95 each.
