JTT Woodland Modeling Products

Saplings are frequently overlooked when modeling woodlands. In the full scale world they ring the forest’s perimeter as well as those of roads and rights of way. The Dry Foliage Trees were planted straight from the box for our late autumn/early winter woodland. These easy to use scenery products from JTT will add a new level of detail to any layout or miniature scene.

Detailed woodlands in miniature has never been a commonly modeled feature on railroad layouts. Several newly released products from JTT Scenery should change this oversight. The Chopped Leaves easily replicates the build up of fallen leaves that cover the ground of most deciduous woodlands. A single package of this clean pre-prepared product will liberally cover over a square foot of forest floor. This material is easily affixed to the scenery base using scenic cement with an overspray of a glue and water mixture to seal the top layers.

The Dry Vines package provides an ample supply of material that can be used to create understory plants as well as a base for climbing vines. Used as is from the package or with the addition of foliage materials the modeler can easily create a varied catalog of miniature plants that adds depth and texture to any miniature landscape.

Saplings are also frequently overlooked when modeling woodlands. In the full scale world they ring the forest’s perimeter as well as those of roads and rights of way. JTT’s Foliage Branches are available in a number of different shades in addition to the Dry Leaves used to create our wooded areas. Originally designed to be added to armatures to quickly create custom trees, this product can be used to effectively model those commonly seen stands of saplings. The branches are easily "planted" in predrilled holes held in place with a drop of scenic cement.

Often overlooked as a basis for modeling seasonal scenes are bare trees supplied with a minimum of foliage. The Dry Foliage Trees were planted straight from the box for our late autumn/early winter woodland. The addition of poly fiber and foliage material to these basic trees allows every season to be effectively modeled by the creation of a unique addition to a miniature landscape.

Bare trees can be used to model more than either dormant or dead trees. While JTT's Dry Foliage Trees were planted straight from the box for our late autumn/early winter woodland, the addition of poly fiber and foliage material to these basic trees allows every season to be effectively modeled. These customized trees are a unique addition to any miniature landscape.
